Project overview

This Before & After project shows the transformation of the bathroom from the reconstruction stage to the finished room. The work included drywall replacement where needed, GoBoard tile backer and waterproofing in the wet area, wall preparation and leveling, a recessed niche for bath products, tile installation on the tub surround and floor, tiled finishing around the window sill, and painting of the walls and ceiling. Plumbing and electrical work were not part of this project.

The problem

The bathroom required substantial wall and finish restoration before the new tile and painted surfaces could be completed. The wet area needed suitable tile backing and waterproof preparation, while the remaining wall surfaces needed repair and leveling.

Work performed

Replaced drywall where required; installed GoBoard tile backer; waterproofed the wet area; prepared, skim-coated, and leveled wall surfaces; built and tiled a recessed storage niche; tiled the tub surround and window sill area; installed floor tile; and painted the walls and ceiling. Plumbing and electrical work were excluded.

The result

A finished bathroom with a waterproof tiled tub surround, recessed niche, tiled window finish, new floor tile, and smooth painted walls and ceiling.
